Yili in Xinjiang province is the biggest lavender production area in China. If you go to Yili, in June, you can see lavender in many places. The lavender fields in Huochengxian in Yili are the most famous.

How to get there:
By Air:  You can fly from Urumqi and Kashgar  to Yining Airport which is only 5 kilometers (3 miles) from downtown.
By Bus:  Yili Passenger Transport Management Centre provides express coach services to major neighboring cities such as Urumqi, Shihezi, Karamay, Kumul, Karla etc. Bus fare within the city starts from CNY 1.
By Taxi:  Taxi flag-down fare is CNY 5 for the first 2 kilometers. CNY 1.5 per kilometer is charged subsequently. Most taxi rides within the city cost around CNY 20.
