Wisteria (Source: blog.resorthoppa.com)

Wisteria, or wisteria is beautiful climbing plants with delicate nice flavor. They are white, blue, purple, violet-blue, purple, pink or purple wisteria.

Country: Japan
Recommended places to visit:
(1) Wisteria Tunnel
For Wisteria lovers, perhaps Wisteria Tunnel located at the Kawachi Fuji Garden in Fukuoka Kitakyusyu, Japan is the best place to visit. You can find out more about the breath-taking Wisteria Tunnel wisteria in this video

How to get there:
Option 1: You can take a free shuttle bus that operates between Yahata station and Ajisei no yu Onsen. The garden is about 2 min walk up the road from the onsen (hot spring).
Option 2: From JR Yahata station, take Nishitetsu bus #56 and get off at Kawachi Elementary School. Walk 10-15 min to the garden.
Option 3: Take a taxi from Yahata Station to Kawachi Fuji Garden (about 20 min ride). This is the most expensive option because taxi is expensive in Japan.

Best time to visit:
From late April to mid May (the time may change slightly depending on the weather each year). The end of April to the Golden Week is normally the peak. Wisteria may not bloom so beautifully every year.

Hours and Fees:
Hours: April end to May end (depending on weather of the year)
Admission fees: 300 yen to 1000 yen depending on wisteria blooming condition

(2) Ashikaga Flower Park
This is another best place to view wisteria. You can find lots of blue, white and pink wisteria, as well as yellow laburnum (Japanese: kingusari) that look like yellow colored wisteria in Ashikaga Flower Park. The
100 years old wisteria tree with branches forming a huge umbrella of blue wisteria flowers is a must see.

How to get there:
Option 1: The park is 15 min walk from Tomita station from JR Ryomo Line. If you depart from Tokyo, take the JR Utsunomiya Line, JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line or JR Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Oyama (only a few shinkansen stops there) and transfer to the JR Ryomo Line. Get off at Tomita Station, one station before Ashikaga Station. It costs 4000 yen and takes about 70 min one way if travel by shinkansen or about two hours and 2000 yen by regular trains.
Option 2: Take the Tobu Isesaki Line from Tobu Asakusa Station to Ashikagashi Station. The one way ride costs 1940 yen and takes about 70 minutes by direct "Ryomo Limited Express" train or costs 940 yen but takes nearly two hours by regular trains (you have to transfer along the way). From the station, there are shuttle buses to the park which cost 300 yen one way, however, they do not run on many weekdays and during winter.
Option 3: Take a 20 minute taxi ride (about 3000 yen).
Best time to visit:
Full bloom is usually in the beginning of May. During the peak season, the park can be very crowded even on weekdays.

Hours: 09:00 to 18:00 (10:00 to 17:00 from late November through February)
Closed: First Wednesday and Thursday of February, December 31
