Shirakawago is a village located in Ōno District, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Ogimachi, inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1995, is the largest village and main attraction of Shirakawa-go. The village is famous for its well preserved gassho-zukuri traditional houses, some of which are over 250 years old.
